About SJCare

We are an independent Nigerian non-governmental organisation working on human rights, accountability, public education and humanitarian assistance.

Who we are

The Social Justice and Vulnerable Care Foundation, known as SJCare, is a Nigerian non-governmental organisation registered to work on human rights, police and judicial accountability, good governance, public education and the correction of misinformation, alongside humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people.

We are an independent organisation. We do not speak for government, and we are not a court, a law-enforcement body, or a provider of legal representation. Our work is to gather and publish information that helps citizens understand their rights and hold institutions to account, and to assist people who are in immediate need.

What we do

  • Research and investigations. We examine publicly available records and document what they show.
  • Public education. We explain rights, institutions and procedure in language a person can act on.
  • Fact-checking. We examine circulating claims, record the evidence, and publish a verdict with its limitations.
  • Advocacy. We carry issues to the public and, where appropriate, to the institutions responsible for answering them.
  • Humanitarian assistance. We provide and coordinate welfare support for vulnerable individuals and communities.

How we work

Every published item is reviewed before release. We distinguish clearly between what a record shows, what has been alleged, and what a competent authority has found. Where we are wrong, we correct the record and publish the correction. Where the evidence does not support a conclusion, we say so rather than guessing.

Registration
